Sports and games assume immense importance and form an integral part of educational system of Sundarban Hazi Desarat College from its inception. The college encourages the students, both boys and girls, for participating in different sports and games through its sports sub-committee functioning at the operational level.

The sub-committee used to meet and decide upon the sports events to be held in the college and the purchase of necessary sports material verifying its stock register. It encourages the students living in the college hostels, both boys and girls, for their more involvement in the sports and games by providing different sports items, both for indoor and outdoor games.
For indoor games, the sub-committee issues various items to the students residing in both the hostels such as Carram Board, chess, dart throwing etc to boys hostel and Carram Board, Chinese Checker, Ludo, dart throwing etc to girls hostel.
For outdoor games, the sub-committee allow the students to play the different games in its own play ground. Since the students, boys in general, are interested in playing football; the college provides them with sufficient number for the whole year. Besides, the students are also encouraged to play Cricket, Valley and Badminton in winter seasons.
The students are also encouraged to participate in the football and athletic meet organised at the Government level on a regular basis. The college has the history of consecutive three times district football champion in the academic session 2000-01, 2001-02, 2002-03 respectively in the football championship organised by the Education Directorate, Government of West Bengal and also participated in the State Level. The students also won the titles in different events of Athletic Meet organised by the same organisation in 2004-05 and 2005-06. In the year 2011-12, one of our students won the second position in long- jump in the district level.
The Sports sub-committee along with the Students’ Union organises every year the inter-class football tournament and the annual sports. The students are also encouraged to participate in football tournaments organised by different clubs in the nearby locality.
The college authority also keeps some seats for admission under sports quota for students having outstanding performance. Besides, the playground is maintained, as far as possible, at regular interval. The renovation of play field is often made by preparing budget estimates by the sports committee and approved by the finance committee. In the current Academic Session i.e. 2015-16 the college has also submitted a proposal for gymnasium before the State Government which is awaiting approval and installation in the college premises.
