Subject Information

The department of philosophy was institutionlized in the college since the academic session 1966-67 with General course.Suresh Halder was the first head of the department. Then Muktipada Sengupta joined the college in 2.04.1974. Their dedication helped the department to stand strong.Tapas Mandal, the present Head, joined the department in 2001. The academic onus of the Department is now being managed by Sri Mandal with the assistance of Pradip Halder who joined as Guest Lecturer in 2013.

                            With rising interest in philosophy  all over the country the number of students has,however, leaped up considerably in the recent years. To meet the growing demands, attemtpts are being made to open Major/Honours in the subject.
